I used to tell myself that I would dedicate myself to getting healthy "later," but "later" never came. I ate very unhealthy foods and always told myself I would start eating healthier "tomorrow." I needed to start exercising, but I would tell myself I would join the gym "next month." When I reached a milestone birthday, I realized that I had set so many health goals that had come and gone in the past decade and had to finally get serious about getting healthy. I then began researching health tips online and found quite a few that inspired me to finally start eating healthy and getting into shape. I still have a ways to go, but I am finally now on the way to achieving my goals! I know so many health blogs inspired me, so I decided to create one of my own to share my health tips on!

Ever find yourself feeling particularly achy or in pain? One of the best ways to combat certain areas of pain is to have your massage therapist find certain pressure points in your body and either massage or use acupuncture methods in order to relieve the pain. Many massage therapists will use the following points to alleviate pain.  Educate yourself and discover some of the most popular pain relieving pressure points throughout the course of this article. Included are five pain relieving pressure points in your body for your massage therapist to target.

Joining The Valley

If you're suffering from a headache, then have your massage therapist locate the area in your body that is known as "Joining the Valley." This point is located in the fleshy area between the thumb and index finger, at the highest point where the muscle conjoins the two fingers. Have your therapist massage this area for several minutes on both hands. In addition to helping ameliorate headaches, having your "Joining the Valley" area massaged can also help with neck pain, shoulder pain, constipation, and hangovers.

Pericardium

The pericardium is an area that is generally massaged to relieve issues associated with nausea and vomiting. It is located between the large tendons on your wrist, approximately three finger lengths below the middle of your wrist. In addition to helping with the issues of nausea and vomiting, having your pericardium massaged can also help with a number of other issues, including motion sickness, post chemotherapy sickness, stomach pains, headaches, post surgery related pains, chest pains, and pain related to carpal tunnel syndrome.

The Third Eye

The area where the third eye is located is right where you would think it would be, directly above where your nose meets your forehead, right in between your eyes. Having this area massaged can greatly benefit a number of different pains. Although it generally helps relieve sinus pain and congestion; it is also said that there are numerous spiritual benefits from having this area massaged. Generally speaking, your massage therapist will only have to massage this area for about one straight minute, once or twice a week, or as pain is alleviated.

Commanding Middle

The commanding middle is located on the back of your knee, right in the very center of the pivot. There are a number of different pains that having your commanding middle massaged can serve to alleviate; among them are included arthritis, sciatica, stiffness in the back and the knee, and general pain associated with the knee, back, and hip. Many massage therapists will work this area in order to alleviate pain that you are experiencing in the lower back. A massage therapist will generally gently press this area on the back of both knees for approximately one minute a piece per session.

Sacral Points

The sacral points are located directly on the sacrum, which is the base of the spine right above your tail bone. A massage therapist will place one hand on top of the other as you lie upon your stomach, firmly applying pressure to the sacrum. Massage therapists generally recommend that this area be massaged to women who are experiencing menstrual pains and cramps associated with menstruation. Not only this, but it can often times relieve pain you experience in your lower back. It is often considered to be good for relieving such pains as it serves to relax the uterus.

Pressure points can be a great way of eliminating pain in certain parts of your body. Discuss these areas of massage therapy with your trusted practitioner in order to maximize the elimination of pain.
