How To Massage Your Sinuses For Relief

I used to tell myself that I would dedicate myself to getting healthy "later," but "later" never came. I ate very unhealthy foods and always told myself I would start eating healthier "tomorrow." I needed to start exercising, but I would tell myself I would join the gym "next month." When I reached a milestone birthday, I realized that I had set so many health goals that had come and gone in the past decade and had to finally get serious about getting healthy. I then began researching health tips online and found quite a few that inspired me to finally start eating healthy and getting into shape. I still have a ways to go, but I am finally now on the way to achieving my goals! I know so many health blogs inspired me, so I decided to create one of my own to share my health tips on!

If you have clogged sinuses, you probably will try almost anything to get some relief. One way to help clear your sinuses is by giving yourself a sinus massage. This is an easy way to help drain the fluid from your nasal passages and breathe more easily. Here is what you need to do:

Clear Your Frontal Sinuses

The frontal sinuses are near your forehead above your eyes. To clear this area, place both of your index fingers above your eyebrows near the center of your forehead. Begin to slowly massage the area in small circles. Gradually move your fingers near your temples as you massage. Repeat this motion for about a minute to help clear the sinuses.

Clear Your Maxillary Sinuses

The maxillary sinuses are the largest part of the sinus system. They are situated on either side of your nose below your cheeks. To clear these areas, place your index fingers and middle fingers on both sides of your nose. Massage in small circular motions between the cheekbones and move towards the top of your cheekbones. Continue this motion for about a minute. If you need more pressure, you can use your thumbs instead of your fingers.

Clear Your Upper Sinuses

The upper sinuses, also known as your ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses are both between your eyes. If you suffer from sinus headaches, this is where you need to massage yourself to help get some relief. To clear these sinuses, place your index fingers on either side of the bridge of your nose. Gently massage up toward the inner corners of your eyes. Move your fingers near the nasal bone and hold some pressure on this area for a few seconds. Gradually slide your fingers down either side of your nose with gentle pressure. Repeat these steps a few times to help clear the sinuses.

These massage techniques are easy and effective in relieving sinus pressure. To make the process more soothing, rub your hands together to warm them up before you begin. You can also place a warm pack on your forehead prior to your massage. The heat will help release some of the sinus pressure. If you are still experiencing blockages in your sinuses after giving yourself a massage, you may need to make an appointment with your doctor to help get some additional relief. You may need some additional therapy, medication, and treatments to help you breathe more easily.

Reach out to a doctor if you think you need sinus therapy.
